Flamenco in Barcelona: visit Flamenco shows

Flamenco is the music, song and dance of Spain, especially the southern provinces of Spain. Characteristic of this form of music are the sometimes Arabic-like sounds, the exuberant musical decorations around the theme and the strong rhythm within a twelve-count system.

The basis of flamenco is flamenco singing. In the most basic version, the singing is often accompanied by a rhythmic tapping by tapping the knuckles on tables, tapping the floor with a stick, snapping the fingers or clapping the hands. Nowadays it's usually accompanied by the Spanish guitar and the cajón (hand drum). Also in Barcelona you can watch a flamenco show or take a workshop in a number of places. An overview of the best flamenco shows in Barcelona Spain:

Los Tarantos Flamenco Show

Los Tarantos is centrally located at Plaça Reial 17 (next to the Ramblas near metro stop Liceu) and offers several Flamenco shows daily (7:30 PM, 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM). Palacio del Flamenco

The performance feels like a journey through the different Flamenco styles and, partly due to the titillating guitar playing, it is an open invitation to sway your hips yourself. In addition to Flamenco, you can also enjoy other classical Spanish dances in this powerful show. Due to the improvisation between musician and dancer, every flamenco performance is different.

Tickets are available from 35 euros for the show only and 60 euros for the show including dinner. Location: c/Balmes, 139. Metro stop Avenida Diagonal (L3 and L5) is a stone's throw away (website).
