Tips for restaurants and best nightlife in Barcelona
All information on where to eat and drink in Barcelona. Where to find the best tapas and the most beautiful restaurants in Barcelona? Tips for Barcelona nightlife.
Restaurants in Barcelona
Barcelona is a great destination for good food (delicious tapas and Catalan dishes). Most restaurants and cafés in Barcelona can be found in the Gothic Quarter Barri Gòtic, but the districts of La Ribera and El Raval also offer many restaurants: from typical Catalan establishments to international cuisine. For Barcelona's residents, the district of Gracia (metro stop Fontana and situated between Park Güell and the Sagrada Familia) is the most popular place to get food and drinks.
The trendy district of El Born has many affordable and cosy tapas bars. For a good meal, you should certainly look beyond the touristy Ramblas. Restaurants usually close around eleven in the evening. Restaurants usually also offer an affordable menu of the day, 'menu del dia'; a simple-three course meal for about € 10.
Craving pinchos? Visit Carrer de Blai, near metro station Paralell. The perfect place for a tour of the various pinchos bars this street has to offer. Popular among the locals too.
A fine-dining experience? Catalan cuisine has created several famous chefs, so it's no surprise that the city has 23 restaurants with Michelin stars.
For the best restaurants, I suggest checking out Tripadvisor. It's impossible to describe all of Barcelona's thousands of restaurants with up-to-date information.
Nightlife in Barcelona
Popular areas for a nightlife in Barcelona are the Gothic Quarter and the districts of Gràcia, El Born, and Eixample. The beach (Port Olimpic) and area around Ramblas (especially around Plaça Reial) also offer many establishments. The more exclusive clubs can be found in places like on the hills of Montjuïc and atop the Avinguda Diagonal (such as Carrer Aribau). Friday and Saturday are the most popular evenings for nightlife, but there are often plenty of people on Thursday nights as well (student night), plus many of the clubs will be free.
