The Barcelona Maritime Museum, near the column of Columbus is an institution dedicated to maritime culture and over 80 years of maritime history. The mission of the maritime museum is the preserving, studying, and promoting of the nation's maritime heritage, which is one of the richest in the Mediterranean. The maritime museum is located in the building of the Royal shipyards, on the coast of Barcelona and at the base of the Montjuïc hill.
