European Museum of Modern Art at Palacio Gomis
The European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM or in catalan Museu Europeu d'Art Modern) has been displaying the best contemporary figurative art since 2011. It's owned by Fundació de les Arts i els Artistes, and the goal of the MEAM is to promote and spread figurative art (paintings and sculptures) from the 20th and 21st century.
The MEAM museum is located in the 18th-century neoclassical Palacia Gomis, in the middle of the streets of the El Born district in Barcelona, a neighbourhood where culture is always present. This palace reflects the charm of the old part of the city; an area that knew how to mix tradition and modernity. The museum is just a few yards from the busy Picasso museum popular among tourists, and this quiet museum is definitely worth a visit.
MEAM, museum with figurative art
The MEAM is different from other contemporary art museums because it only features contemporary artists who make figurative art. This art mostly consists of abstract creations; paintings are usually characterised by exquisite quality, often leading you to wonder whether you are looking at a photograph or a painting. The European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) is a museum that will surprise both young and old.
